How To Avoid Drowsy Driving

shutterstock_287303636
Slow reaction time, decreased awareness and impaired judgment, sound a lot like the effects of alcohol, right? Well, they’re also the symptoms of being drowsy. In other words, it is just as dangerous to get behind the wheel of a vehicle when you’re less than well rested as driving after a few drinks. One difference between the two is that it is almost impossible to determine, with absolute certainty, that the person behind the wheel was too tired to be driving in the event of an accident. When someone is under the influence of alcohol, there are blood, breath and objective tests that can determine if alcohol was the culprit. However, there are a couple of clues that can help investigators conclude that it was a tired driver behind the wheel. Usually, in a driving drowsy accident, there is only one vehicle involved, the driver tends to be alone and, there is an absence of skid marks or evasive maneuvering in the area surrounding them. Keep an eye out for the warning signs below on yourself.
  • Trouble keeping your head up
  • Frequent blinking, difficulty focusing and heavy eyelids
  • Forgetting the last few miles, missing exits and traffic signs
  • Yawning repeatedly
  • Drifting lanes, following too closely or hitting the shoulder rumble strips
  • Feeling irritable
This time of year can be exceptionally difficult for drivers. As we lose daylight earlier, we are more likely to get tired on our way home from work in the dark. If you experience any of these symptoms, pull over, get picked up or take a cab home. "Warning Signs." Drowsy Driving Stay Alert Arrive Alive RSS. N.p., n.d. Web. 05 Oct. 2016.

Honda Super Bowl Commercial

Anyone who tuned in for the Big Game this past weekend not only got to see an incredible game but a variety of highly entertaining star-studded commercials. Honda was one of the many companies that created a special Super Bowl spot which features a variety of famous faces and focused on the brand’s “Power of Dreams” slogan. The 2017 Honda CR-V was the featured vehicle as the spot focused on how the brand’s Power of Dreams led to the creation of a model that is now celebrating 20 years in production. The overall message was that you should never be afraid to dream big because all dreams are possible as long as you put in the time and effort to make them a reality. The brand took a unique approach to their message by featuring a variety of celebrities including Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Viola Davis, Missy Elliott, Tina Fey, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Jimmy Kimmel, Stan Lee and Robert Redford as they shared how they followed their dreams from humble beginnings to where they are now. The unique element was that each celebrity was speaking as their younger selves from the pages of their high school yearbook. "Since its introduction in 1997, CR-V has set the standard for efficiency, practicality and driving fun, becoming a customer favorite and taking the title as America's best-selling SUV over the past two decades," said Susie Rossick, assistant vice president, Honda Auto Marketing. "To celebrate the all-new, fifth-generation CR-V, we wanted to share inspiring stories that bring to life what we mean when we talk about The Power of Dreams."
