In 2015, the Honda Research and Development Department in Japan announced the “Bonneville Speed Challenge.” It chose 16 of its 100 volunteer employees to build the Honda S-Dream car and achieve world speed record using the 660cc engine. The team, including project leader, Keisuke Tsuta, re-examined the S660 engine down to every last part. They renewed the cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons, and valves and managed to triple the power of the engine. While the Honda S-Dream was not able to reach maximum speed at Speed Weeks, it sought redemption after being invited to Bonneville for Mike Cook’s shootout. It was there that the Honda S-Dream surpassed the Honda F1 car with a top run of 261.875 mph. Congratulations to Honda on this incredible milestone in Honda performance!
