A First Look at the New 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid

Are you in the market for a hybrid car? Honda just added the 2019 Insight model to its line of fuel-efficient vehicles, and we'll be taking you through some of our favorite details. On this rundown, we'll look into this car's top features regarding efficiency, technology, interior and exterior design, and safety. Fuel Efficiency and Engine Performance If there's one thing everyone agree it's that the new 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid is all about fuel efficiency. The car maker claims their new vehicle, with a 10.6-gallon tank capacity, can get between 51 (Touring trim level) and 55 miles per gallon (LX and EX trim levels) in city driving. All three available trim levels come standard with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and electric drive engine with 151 horsepower. Car experts who've taken this vehicle on a test drive agree that the 2019 Honda Insight performs as expected of a gas-electric hybrid model. Fuel efficiency is, no doubt, its calling card. more Exterior Design Even if you never thought of buying a compact sedan, the luxury-looking exterior design of the 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid will make you think twice. The LX and EX trim levels come with standard 16-inch alloy wheels, and the highest trim level, the Touring, comes with standard 17-inch alloy wheels. All trims include LED headlights, brake lights, and tail lights. LED fog lights are standard in the Touring trim and available in the EX trim. In the color department, the 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid makes a bold statement but remains a classic with seven finishes to choose from. Interior Comfort and Technology The interior details give continuity to the semi-sporty look of the exterior design but with added details of comfort and luxury. It's surprisingly spacious and functional for a five-seat sedan, and the available leather-trimmed seats really give it an upscale look. The battery is packed under the rear seat, so the car has a good trunk capacity of 15 cubic feet. Fold-down rear seats allow for multiple configurations and flexibility. For tech-savvy car buyers, available features include an 8-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and mobile hotspot capability, which comes standard with the Touring trim level. Top Safety Features Passenger safety shouldn't be an extra package. That's why all 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid models come standard with the signature Honda Sensing system. Top features include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and road departure alert. The body of this Honda vehicle is built to minimize collision impact and increase the safety of all occupants. For increased passenger-side visibility, the EX and Touring trims include the Honda LaneWatch system. This system allows you to see live video images on the car's touchscreen display. One of the top concerns of eco-conscious drivers, other than respecting the environment, is owning the car with the best fuel efficiency in the market. Although not a decision-making point, having some style on the road is welcomed. The new 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid fits that profile while keeping the look classic. *Any MPG listed is based on model year EPA mileage ratings. Use for comparison purposes only. Your actual mileage will vary, depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle, driving conditions, battery pack age/condition (hybrid only) and other factors. 3 Cool Landmarks Near Flemington, NJ

A small borough in New Jersey, Flemington has a rich history that began back in 1712. Since then, the area has become home to several notable sites that have found their way into history books. Find out what makes three landmarks near Flemington worth checking out. Northlandz Found on U.S. Route 202 in Flemington, Northlandz is home to the world's largest model railroad. Opened in 1997 more by Bruce Williams Zaccagnino and his wife Jean, the 16-acre attraction features hundreds of trains and more than 400 bridges. There are more than 8 miles of track, and the tallest mountain reaches 30 feet high. The entire building took two years to construct and more than four years to create the indoor museum. Visitors can also check out more than 200 dolls from around the globe and a 94-room dollhouse. There's also a 2,000-pipe organ, which Bruce plays occasionally. Typically open Thursday through Monday, Northlandz stays open on Wednesdays from July through the first week of September. Children under the age of 2 are free, while children 2 and older are $10.75. Admission for adults is $15.75, and for seniors, it's $13.50. Princeton Battlefield State Park A national historic landmark in nearby Princeton, Princeton Battlefield State Park spans 85 acres. On Jan. 3, 1777, the fields and woods saw one of the fiercest fights of the American Revolution. American troops led by Gen. George Washington defeated the British army, marking the first victory for Washington against the British Regulars. This battle took place at the end of the Ten Crucial Days, which included the famous Delaware River crossing and two battles in Trenton. The famous Mercer Oak, which once stood at the middle of the battlefield, was near the spot where Gen. Hugh Mercer fell during the Battle of Princeton. The tree collapsed in 2000 after living more than 250 years, but the stump remains. The Clarke House served as a sanctuary for Gen. Mercer, who died there nine days later. Today, you can visit the house and participate in numerous park activities, such as cross-country skiing, hiking, and birdwatching. There is no cost for the state park. Samuel Fleming House and Museum Also known as the Flemington Castle, the Samuel Fleming House and Museum is the oldest surviving house in the borough. Built in 1756, the house sits on Bonnel Street just off Park Avenue. Around 1740, Samuel Fleming, his wife Esther, and two children emigrated from Ireland to Amwell in New Jersey. He received a land grant of 201 acres, and in 1756 built a three-story frame house for his growing family, which now included 10 children. The house and museum now belong to the Borough of Flemington. Free tours and programs occur on the second Saturday of every month from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Group and private tours are available on request. Whether you want to check out the world's largest model railroad, the site of a famous battle, or one of the oldest houses in the area, Flemington has you covered. How to Prep Your Car for Back-to-School Season

Getting ready to head back to school is a busy time, whether it involves returning to college or gearing up for another busy year of after-school activities and hurried mornings. To help you have a smooth transition, simply follow a few simple steps and you and your car are ready to hit the road. Check the Tires Before you head back to school, take a look at your tires. Invest in a tire gauge, and check all four tires to make sure they have the correct pressure. You can find the manufacturer's suggested pressure number on the inside of the driver's door or in the owner's manual. Improper tire pressure can cause you to get fewer miles per gallon. It can also increase overall wear and tear, and you may need to purchase new tires sooner. One way to determine if you need new tires is by doing the penny test. Take a penny with the head side facing you, and turn it so Abe Lincoln is upside down. Insert the penny into the tire's groove, and if you can see any of his head, you need new tires. This means you're losing tread. Do this test monthly. Look Under the Hood Make a point to regularly check all the fluids under the hood. If you're not sure where to find everything, the owner's manual states where all the fluids can be found. This includes coolant; transmission, windshield wiper, brake and power steering fluids; and oil. Clean fluids help your car run more efficiently and extend its life. If you can't remember the last time you changed your wiper blades, you should think about replacing them. The blades usually last about a year. A car battery usually lasts four to five years, depending on temperature and usage. If your battery shows signs of reduced performance, consider testing it with a voltmeter. For instance, if it takes several tries to start your car or if the electrical components don't work properly, you might need a new battery. Be Prepared It's a smart idea to keep basic safety equipment in the back of your vehicle. This includes items specifically for the car, such as jumper cables and washer fluid. You could also invest in a car first-aid kit, which usually includes sockets, screwdrivers, pliers, and gloves. If you live in an area that gets snow and cold temperatures, you should also have a shovel, ice scrapers, and blankets available. Get Organized Once the craziness of school officially kicks in, you might need help keeping your car organized. If you have younger children, you might have sports equipment, books, or toys that have found a home in your trunk. To keep them from rolling around, pick up some storage containers or bags. Just make sure you keep enough room for your emergency items. If you need more assistance in getting your car ready for back-to-school season, contact the professionals at Clinton Honda. They can help you with maintenance and provide additional tips. Image via eflon | Licensed by CC BY 2.0

5 Tips for Detailing Your Car

Is the interior of your car full of candy wrappers from the last weekend at the theme park, cookie crumbs from last week's road trip, and enough sand to build a private beach on the back seat? We have five foolproof tips for detailing your car that will help you clean it in no time. Vacuum the Interior Thoroughly Vacuuming the interior of the vehicle is something car owners do often. So what do we mean by vacuuming thoroughly? First, take all floor mats out of the car. Then vacuum from the top (yes, there's dirt up there, too) to the bottom without missing a single spot. That includes that little shelf on the back, the seats and under them (make sure you slide them forward to get to those hard spots), the dashboard, and the trunk. Wash the Floor Mats After Vacuuming Them In most cases, removing the floor mats, vacuuming them, and putting them back is enough. But after a two-week vacation at the beach, for example, you're still wondering where all that sand is coming from. Remove the mats and shake them or whack them on the ground or against a wall to get rid of the major dust particles. Then vacuum on both sides to make sure you removed the smaller grains. Finally, hand wash them and hang them to dry. more Get Spotless Mirrors and Windows There is no magic trick to cleaning mirrors and windows, but there are a few tools that help you get the job done. All you need is a microfiber cloth and a glass cleaner product, preferably in a spray bottle. Remember to roll down your car windows to clean that top part everyone forgets about. Brush Air Conditioning Vents Anything with tiny parts that need cleaning gets pushed way down to the bottom of the priority list. Air conditioning vents are one of those things. But if you have the right tools, you can get it done in the blink of an eye. Using a brush with long bristles to clean the vent should be enough. To make sure you really got rid of all dust particles, use a compressed air can. Caring for Tough-to-Clean Areas The door panels, the dashboard, and the front panel are some of the toughest areas to clean in your car. In some vehicles, they are made of different materials, and some of them have a mix of materials in the same area, so using cleaning products is not always the best solution. Cup holders, for example, gather a lot of dust and waste. To clean these surfaces, start by vacuuming. Then dust with a soft cloth and only use a chemical cleaning product that you're sure won't damage the surface. It's best to use just water or a mix of water and mild soap. Thoroughly detailing the interior of your car is not as hard as you think, so long as you have the right tools and these tips at hand. Image via Marco Verch | Licensed by CC BY 2.0
