Honda FCV Concept Only Emits Water
Each year we look forward to the new and innovative concept models that Honda is going to release in the coming months. One of the most exciting new models is the FCV Concept. This uses hydrogen and oxygen to create electricity to move the vehicle. The most interesting part about the FCV Concept might just be that the only sort of emissions that are produced is water.
With a short 3-5 minute refueling time and a range of over 300 miles, Honda has really figured out on how to address the fears consumers have about becoming stranded due to a dead battery.
The Honda FCV is mostly exciting because these are the types of vehicles we look forward to driving in the future. Models like this one will allow us to get where we need to go in a more efficient manner while keeping everyone in the vehicle safe and comfortable.

Honda Creates “Green Path” To Achieve Goals
Honda has recently announced the “Green Path” approach which includes several initiatives that will help the company reach a voluntary goal to reduce its total GHG emissions by 50 percent by the year 2050. Some of the implementations and guidelines Honda plans to use to achieve this goal includes:
- Reduce or eliminate the use of substances of concern and scarce natural resources in the design of its vehicles
- Build and use a $210 million state-of-the-art paint facility that will significantly reduce the environmental impact of the auto-body painting process
- Significantly reduce the CO2 intensity and water use of its manufacturing operations
- One-megawatt rooftop solar array at its 400,000 square foot parts distribution center in Windsor Locks, Connecticut is anticipated to meet more than half of the site’s total electricity needs and offset an estimated 576 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually
- Build vehicles that are designed to improve the recyclability of materials at the end of a product’s useful life
- Continue to decrease CO2 emissions from the transportation of vehicles from its plants to dealers
- Expand the involvement of U.S. Honda dealers in its “Green Dealer” program which rewards dealers who measurably reduce the environmental impact of their operations
“When one thinks about what automakers can do to help the environment, the immediate thought is about improving fuel efficiency and developing alternatives to gasoline,” said Ryan Harty, manager of Honda’s Environmental Business Development Office. “We work every day on these issues. But there’s much more automakers can do beyond fuel efficiency to reduce our environmental impact by adopting energy efficiency and renewable energy throughout our operations.”
